Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Transfer to Keys Hotel in Moshi. Equipment check and briefing with your mountain guide.

Day 2

Drive to Lemosho Gate for registration. Begin trek through rainforest to Lemosho Forest Camp (2,650m). Trekking time: 3-4 hours.

Day 3

Trek through rainforest and heathland to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820m). Trekking time: 5-6 hours. Enjoy views of the Shira Plateau.

Day 4

Continue trekking through heathland and moorland to Shira Camp 1 (3,500m). Trekking time: 5-6 hours. Spectacular views of Mount Meru.

Day 5

Trek across the Shira Plateau to Shira Camp 2 (3,900m). Trekking time: 4-5 hours. Afternoon acclimatization walk.

Day 6

Trek to Lava Tower (4,600m) for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp (3,960m). Trekking time: 6-7 hours. 'Climb high, sleep low' day.

Day 7

Climb the Barranco Wall and trek to Karanga Camp (4,035m). Trekking time: 4-5 hours. Stunning views of the Southern Ice Fields.

Day 8

Trek to Barafu Camp (4,673m). Trekking time: 3-4 hours. Rest and prepare for summit night. Early dinner.

Day 9

Summit night! Start at midnight, ascend to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) via Stella Point. Descend to Mweka Camp (3,100m). Total trekking: 12-15 hours.

Day 10

Descend to Mweka Gate for certificates. Drive back to Moshi for hot shower and celebration dinner.
